Cold as Sheet!

It is SO COLD outside today!!
42 degrees as of right now!

My friends from Chicago and Upstate New York said that it was snowing last night!

YIKES!

Winter is here! But the flowers are still in full bloom outside of the NYC Public Library on 42nd St. Aren't they beautiful?

El Cuerpo Humano

Isn't the human body amazing? It can just heal itself... What's up with that?

I fell on my face last night in the living room. haha.
I had a huge gash on my knee, and it wouldn't stop bleeding for an hour.

Today, I looked at it, and it's basically healed. The wound has closed, and it's officially in the healing process.

When you think about it, it's pretty amazing that our bodies can do this, no?

If only our hearts could mend as quickly...

Happy Halloween!

Hey all-

It's that time of year again... Halloween!

I always remember Halloween as being my least favorite holiday, because the Halloweens through my middle and high school years were the absolute worst nights of my life. Most of the time, I stayed home crying, and other times, I went to bed early because I didn't want to go out. I never really liked candy either, so even when I would go trick-or-treating, I was still not having fun.

Fast forward to 2007. BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. Seriously.

I don't think it's going to be that great again this year though. I'm going to end up wearing the same costume as I did last year, because I don't have money to buy a new one.

Blah... what are you being for Halloween?

Some pictures from last year...

Unhealthy Addictions...

No, no. I am not into drugs.

I think I have an unhealthy addiction to the Internet. With that being said, I'm not sure what to think of the situation.

I think out of all the hours in the day, I spend a good 6 hours on the Internet. It may sound bad, but most of the time it is pretty productive. I have multiple accounts on different sites, and have met some pretty awesome people off of them.

I enjoy what I do on the Internet.

Maybe I'll start learning about web design?

Yes? No?
Thoughts?

What are YOUR unhealthy addictions?

Train troubles...

If you are almost completely immobile, and unable to climb stairs, why are you attempting to conquer a flight of them in order to ride the train in the morning?

Why are you traveling during rush hour?

Maybe you should move to a city that doesn't require you to be in people's way 24/7.

Just a thought...

Racism? Really?

Hey all-

It's starting to get pretty cold here in the city! I had to close my window last night!

Anyways, here is a clip I think you should all watch. PRETTY interesting stuff...

Womanizer

No school today.

Thank god for Columbus pretending to discover America, and raping/murdering hundreds of Latin American natives!!

I can't seem to bring myself to do homework (again). Watch this instead!

Floja Sunday

Once again, it is a LAZY Sunday.

I have no plans, although I really want to get out of the house and grab something to eat. I'm thinking maybe a cafe in SoHo? Sometimes I just love to get off the train and walk around Prince Street- there is so much to find in that part of town!

Last night I went to visit a friend that works at Pinkberry. What is Pinkberry, you ask?

Pinkberry is a store that has mastered the art of selling spoiled milk to thousands of people every day. I don't understand it. It's supposed to be "fat-free, frozen yogurt", but we all know how fat-free yogurt tastes like sour milk...

Pinkberry sells you a cup of sour milk, and fresh fruit toppings. In WHAT world do people find this appetizing?? Thank god I got mine for free! :]

On my way home, I totally saw a gorgeous view of the city standing at the train platform on Astoria Blvd. I was going to take a picture for all of you, but my camera's battery was dead :[ Sorry!!

Long Time, No See

Hey all-

Sorry that I haven't been updating in a while. I feel like I always provide excuses for not doing so, and I am officially going to stop that today. :]

So other than my life being absolutely hectic, it has been going pretty good! I recently took a trip back to Michigan. It was absolutely fabulous.

First of all, my mom had no clue that I was coming back, so it was interesting to see her reaction when I walked up behind her in a restaurant. I believe the first words out of her mouth were “FUCK!” Oh, good times mom, good times.

Taking trips back to Michigan is refreshing for me, because it allows me to reflect on how good my life in New York actually is. What the hell would I be doing now if I were in Michigan? Other than being completely miserable, I’m not entirely sure.

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some good ‘ol Midwest, but it just doesn’t float my boat anymore.

I started reading Madonna: an Intimate Biography. It is fierce. It makes me realize how incredibly rich I need to be one day, and how I need to become famous in the process. Hah.

How does THAT sound????

COMMENT, COMMENT, COMMENT! It makes me want to write more when I actually see that people are reading :]

s is me and my bff, Andrea. I only hang out with beautiful people....

Going to Mexico

I bought a few books the other day about how to get into an organization that does volunteer work in other countries.

I want to go to Mexico this summer and build a school or something like that.

Am I reaching for the stars here? What do you think?

Womanizer

Britney's new song has leaked on the internet!!!

... and it is HOT!

SEX AND THE CITY

SOOOO....

I got the new Sex and the City DVD yesterday, and made a glorious discovery!

I AM IN IT!!

There is a part on the special features disc, where they are talking about all of the clothes and fashion, and there is a clip of me yelling "I love you, Pat!", and then Patricia Field waves at me.

OH. MY. GOD. I am basically famous.

My fifteen minutes aren't up yet!!

Seriously?

Was this really happening today??

The Whitney

Hey all :]

VERY floja Sunday today... (floja = lazy, en español)

I went to The Whitney Museum of American Art. It was tres interesting. I was forced to go for my Communications Today class, but actually found one of the exhibits pretty interesting. This artist, Paul McCarthy, made this exhibit of installations that questioned "space". It challenged what our minds think of the space we're in, and worked against your mind in order to make a rather inviting space seem very uninviting.

Flash forward: there was the awesome piece that was a room. There were four walls, and a door inside of each wall. When you walked inside of it, all of the walls opened, and all of the doors started slamming in the sides of the walls. Then, the walls would slam shut back into the room, and it would start all over again. It was pretty cool to see how people were reacting to it... MINUS the hordes of screaming children that were giggling while jumping in and out of the doors.

There are some places that are acceptable for children, but a museum is NOT one of them... when will people learn!?

There was also this other piece, called the Dymaxion Map. It was a huge map of the world that was painted on the floor. The whole idea was that the map was all spread out in an odd way, it minimized distortion that other maps and globes create. Somehow, parents had turned this into some sort of Find that Country exercise.

REALLY PEOPLE???? Why didn't you just stay home!?

I went to Central Park afterward. Isn't it sad that this is probably one of the last nice days we are going to see?

Haircut

I got a haircut today... I will have to post with pictures later :]

Only one person has been able to properly cut my hair, and I'm sad that she's still in Michigan, so I have had trouble finding someone to do it here. I tried out this new place today, and it turned out to be amazing!

It turns out that the guy who cut my hair is a cousin to the real estate agent that tried finding me an apartment! WHAT A SMALL WORLD!!

What is up with all of you?

I hope they make me look like this when I put them on!!

School begins!!

Argh! It's been too long!

Let me tell you all about school....

So the new semester started about two weeks ago, and I have been SUPER busy with everything... My classes go a little something like this:

Criminal Justice: BORING. The teacher is like an ex-lawyer or something, so the class is completely lecture based. All we do is sit in groups and discuss previous Supreme Court cases, and then we share our feelings about it.
Weapons of the Spirit: Really? My teacher is obsessed with peace, and we are reading Gandhi's autobiography. Enough said.
Communications Today: The teacher is brand new. She has only been out of college for a year or so. Needless to say, we aren't doing a whole lot in that class except watching movies and going on field trips. Hey! I'm not complaining! :]
Media: My teacher is absolutely insane, in a good way :] She's a lot like me, her mind travels a million miles a minute, and her mouth can't keep up! She's having a baby in four weeks, so from that point on, the whole class will be online. Not complaining about that either!
Public Speaking: I had this professor last year, and he is known throughout the college for cancelling classes. Our last class was already cancelled... haha. He told us that all of our speeches would be 1-2 minutes, and none of them can be written down. I'm totally fine with that!

So all in all, the new school year has been pretty good to me so far. My work schedule is fitting right in there, and my nights are now dedicated to homework, and watching seasons 1 and 2 of Ugly Betty. I'm totally getting prepared for the new season! SO EXCITED!

Stay cute :]

It's been a LONG time....

I am SO SORRY everyone!

Our internet has been out for around a week now, and it has been HELL!

I started school yesterday, all is going well in that department. I will definitely update later with more info... I just wanted to let you all know that I was still alive! :]

PS- I ran in to Blake Lively again. And this time, she was with Penn Badgley! You KNOW I took photos...

LENKA

Hey all-

VERY exciting news! Basically the reason why I haven't updated in so long:

Sony BMG and Epic Records signed a new artist! Her name is Lenka, and she kinda sounds like Regina Spektor, but totallly better. Anyway, they decided to hold her record release party at Dylan's! It was absolutely awesome!

Our entire third floor was transformed into a music venue, and I got to meet Lenka herself, her entourage, and even the CEO of Epic Records! It was absolutely nuts!! Here are some pictures:

This is her new single, CHECK IT OUT!!

Soft hair and Sweden!

Hey all :]

I have an interesting story, to say the least.

All right, so I was at Katie's house, reading Cosmo, when I found out that putting olive oil, mayonnaise, and eggs in your hair can actually strengthen it! I was so amazed, that I decided to give it a shot! Here are some photos of the hilarity that ensued:

Call me crazy, BUT IT WORKED!! My hair was smoother than a baby's behind! You should all try it, its just 1/4 cup each of olive oil, mayo, and eggs, and voila! SOFT HAIR!!

PS- Don't ask me why I'm wearing a towel. Hahah :]

Today at work, we met a bunch of amazing people from Sweden. They were awesome. I wish I could have remembered their names, but they were too hard to pronounce/remember. Anyway, we learned that college is free in Sweden, and the government pays for your housing and gives you money while you go to school because they don't want you to work! OH MY GOD. I really need to think about going to Sweden!

They told me about this place online where you can find people your age in other countries who are willing to let you sleep on their couch because you don't have a lot of money for hotels. I think I'm going to look into that, it would be great to travel Europe sometime soon!!

I went to see the water downtown, isn't the view of New Jersey beautiful?

Then I stopped to see some puppies in the window. I NEED ONE!!

Meeting Blake Lively :]

CELEBRITY SIGHTING.

We were cleaning up at work on Thursday night, and LeslieAnn told us that she thought she saw Blake Lively shopping in the store downstairs. Of course, our first reaction was to drop everything, scream, and run downstairs. haha.

Upon doing so, we definitely found Blake Lively buying candy! For those of you who don't know Blake Lively, she was in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and is now in Gossip Girl. We made her sign a mini bin and fill it with candy (we do to all the celebrities), and then forced her to take pictures with us. She was SOOOO nice! She kept telling us how nice it was to meet everyone, and her dad even took my card! He told me that he may be back one day to throw a party. I. WOULD. DIE.

There were also Oompa Loompas at work today. Is this not the most degrading job EVER?

Me, Mariah, Nowani, and LeslieAnn went out after work to El Cantinero. El Cantinero is a stuffy little Mexican restaurant downtown that is like a constant fiesta. We wanted to go to Harlem and get soul food, but Sylvia's was closed, and El Cantinero stays open late.

GOOD THING THEY DO, TOO! We stayed until 1 in the morning, and I'm sure our waiter hated us. Hahah....

No work today. I am going to buy things for my room. I need new picture frames....

Katie moves in!

Hey all :]

What a busy weekend!!

Basically my entire weekend was consumed by work, and helping my best friend Katie move in to her new apartment! She just got this beautiful high rise apartment on the 14th floor of a beautiful building with a view of the river that is to die for!! She even has a balcony! Katie's mom recruited a man off of the street to do our heavy lifting for us... hahah. That was an adventure! I went with her to drop the rental van off downtown, and remembered why I will never drive in NYC.

We discovered a really great restaurant right by her, and I tried motza for the first time! OH. MY. GOD. It is SO GOOD! I swear, ever since I had it, I've been eating it up at work like it's the last thing I'll ever have (except the motza at work is covered in chocolate... probably not so good!). I encourage you all to go out and try motza! It's delicious! ALSO, make sure you experiement cooking with cumin powder... it's some of the best stuff I've had!

Work has been absolutely amazing. I now have new responsibilities, meaning that I am there A LOT more than I used to be! I love it though, because I absolutely LOVE my job. I seriously think that as each day goes by, I realize more and more that I have the most amazing job in the world. I feel blessed, because not many people are able to say the same. I never liked kids until I started working this job, and now I can't wait to see them every day!!

Po'town

Hey haaaaaayyyy!

So I went on my trip upstate yesterday instead of last weekend. I thought it was going to be fun, until I realized that the Metro North isn't air conditioned. In case you didn't know, the Metro North is a train line that runs upstate and through Connecticut, but it is still considered part of the New York City Transit system. Anyway, my trip began in Grand Central Station, where everything is overpriced!! Sure, it is beautiful, but $4 for a bottle of Dasani water? I think not!

When I got on the train, I immediately drank all of my water because I was dying of heat stroke. I spent $30 and had to ride and hour and a half of the worst near-death experience I have ever had. Imagine driving in your car on a 90 degree day with no air, and no windows open. You're dying already, right?!

Once I got to Poughkeepsie, I met up with my friend Jim. Poughkeepsie isn't exactly a walking kind of town, so he had to pick me up from the train station. It was refreshing to actually see trees and grass! There was even an artsy beached whale thing! We went to an actual grocery store, and parked in an actual parking lot! Haha :]

Once I got to Jim's house, I met the love of my life. His name is Prada Hilton, and he has four legs. Aren't we cute?

The train ride home was better- this one was actually air conditioned. Although this time I had to sit in front of a family of four that had apparently never seen water before. Why does the river become more fascinating from the train? I think I would have rather died of heat stroke again...

Work was interesting. It was my first day with my new email address, and one of my bosses is out of town until Tuesday, so my day was spent returning phone calls and answering emails. FUN STUFF! For real.

SCHOOL IS QUICKLY APPROACHING! I have no clue what I'm going to do with myself...

PS- If you are reading this, and you'd like to be added to my email list (I'll let you know every time via email when I update), definitely let me know! I feel like I don't know who all is reading this, and I would love to!!

PEACE.

Thongalicious

This is me in a candy thong. That is all

Tres exciting...

Hey all!

Sooooo... nothing really exciting has happened in the past couple of days. I ended up not going on that train ride upstate yesterday. Instead I went to see my friends' new apartment in Brooklyn. It's really nice, it was just built and all of their neighbors were moving in too. Although I wouldn't ever live there, it's too far of a walk from the subway. It's in Bushwick, so the neighborhood is ALL Puerto Rican. I think it's fun. Puerto Ricans are a riot!

Work is plentiful, which is good! I'm no longer poor! Hahah...

The party that happened at work today was absolutely fabulous! My mom told me today that she might come visit me sometime before the summer ends. YOU SHOULD ALL TELL HER THAT SHE NEEDS TO DO IT!!

My mom is fabulous, and I can't wait until I have enough  money to make her move to New York and be a fabulous rich superstar/wonderwoman.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRISTEN!

Hey all!

First and foremost... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE MOST FABULOUS SISTER IN THE WORLD!!

Disappointing news....

I was told this morning that I was going to meet none other than SOULJA BOY! For those of you that don't know Soulja Boy, view the following:

Isn't he great!? haha...
Anyways, we found out that he was coming to Dylan's to shoot an interview for MTV News, and I was really excited because I thought Suchin Pak would be the one to come and interview him. To make a long story short, it turns out that he missed his flight and wasn't able to make it to NYC.

Ok, things I don't understand:
1. You are a rap star
2. Your ONLY job is to wake up in the morning
3. HOW do you miss your flight if you own the plane?!?

Whatever.

After that, I organized all of my space at work and found out that tomorrow when I come in, I get to make phone calls to all the other snotty party spaces in town and find out competitor's pricing! So basically I picture myself spending most of the day on the phone with FAO Schwartz. FAO is a gigantic toy store where stuffed animals cost hundreds of dollars, and they have a giant piano that you can dance on! Here's an old photo of me and Kristen last year with the underpaid doormen:

I also found out that we're going to do a wedding CEREMONY in the store! Yes! Someone is crazy enough to get married in the world's largest candy store! Kudos to you! Their gift table will look something like this:

This has nothing to do with the wedding, but this is my amazing boss Fatima. We have too many inside jokes.

P.S.- Sorry I haven't been able to upload with pictures from the city for a while! Work is consuming! More city pics to come soon! I'm going on a train ride upstate this Friday, so hopefully we'll get some scenic pictures!

Take care =]

Macy's!

Hey all!

So not much happened today. I went in to work and cleaned up my bosses' office a little bit. There haven't been a lot of parties scheduled lately, so I've been looking for odd jobs to do for a bit more on my paycheck!

I got an air conditioner! It is absolutely fabulous. It is constantly around 60 degrees in my room now. I don't understand how I ever lived without one!

I went to Macy's today to do some shopping with money that I don't have. I ended up buying a shirt and some underwear. That store is huge, I would hate to be in charge of loss prevention there...

Sunday, July 20, 2008

Mamma Mia! Here I go again!

OH. MY. GOD.

I went to Brooklyn and saw Mamma Mia today! It was so incredibly fabulous, I encourage you all to go out and see it immediately!! Meryl Streep is AMAZING, she reminds me of my mother. Although she is a mess in the movie, she is still fab.

Also: CELEBRITY SIGHTING!!

Daniel Franzese from Mean Girls was in Dylan's today. He signed a mini bin and filled it with candy :]

Feeling HOT HOT HOT

I had a LOOONG night last night, and didn't end up getting out of bed this morning until around 4pm- I AM SO LAZY!

Anyway, I had an eventful day. First, I went to visit my friend John at his work because he just got back from his 2 week vacation to Acapulco!

I am jealous of:
1. people with enough money to vacation
2. John's tan
3. friends with air conditioners. DONATE to my PayPal account so I can buy one!! (xctharrett@yahoo.com)

John works in a high-end vintage shop. High-end enough to let me sit on the custom made cashmere sofa that was on it's way out the door to be shipped to Vienna. Oh, did I mention that it cost a billionaire $300,000. No big deal, right?

After that, I went to check out the grand opening of the new Dylan's Candy Bar. Oh god, our store is WAY TOO BIG now. It was too crazy in there- I couldn't stay long. Pictures soon!

For the rest of my night, I had the pleasure of falling victim to Isaac's bad attitude. We ate at a restaurant in the Village called "Bambeo" (or something like that). Isaac yelled at me for just about everything that was happening from the absence of air conditioning, to the extra cup of salsa we had to order that cost an extra 60 cents. Afterwards, he forced me to sit at an obscene fat-free yogurt shop that smelled like sour milk. Bambeo was definitely an experience. Not sure if I would ever go back. The food was great, but all the servers were severely unprofessional and rude. I have no idea what MSG tastes like, but we decided that there was a lot in our food, because our stomachs had this weird bursting sensation for the next couple of hours.

After leaving Isaac, I found a sexy little coffee shop in SoHo called Think Coffee. I had an iced green tea that was phenomenal, minus the whole situation still happening in my stomach from Bambeo. I will definitely be going back here. It is officially added to my list of places to take you all when you visit!

I hope you all like the new music feature I added to the page! I'm going to try and change the song every day or so. You will love my music. Haha.

Tomorrow I have plans to go to Brooklyn to see Mamma Mia with Hussein & Emma. FABULOUS. I cannot wait to watch another Meryl Streep movie. I might pee my pants.

Brooklyn Heights

Hey people!

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days. Work has been hectic- they did some "downsizing" yesterday, and it feels like I've lost members of my family. Isn't it amazing how close you grow to the people you work with? Downsizing is especially evil, because it happens for no particular reason. Jeeez! When is this economy gonna get going!?!

My friend Hussein bought a new apartment in Brooklyn, so I went to visit him yesterday and go shopping for new furniture. We discovered that Jennifer Convertibles is like a car dealership. If you act like you're going to leave, they will give you a better deal! Haha...

This weekend should be interesting... I have off work, and no money again! I sense a post with lots of great pictures! My dad sent me my rollerblades in the mail, and I got them today. I'm going to go exploring on rollerblades!! Should be fun!

This is the view from the end of Hussein's street, isn't it TO DIE FOR!?
